The Department of Social Services established a Technical Training Center for Orphans and Disabled Children in the Fiscal Year 2005-2006 to provide technical training to orphans and disabled children in various trades across the country. In these centers, orphans and disabled children aged 15-25 years from the financial year 2013-2014 are getting the opportunity to get employment and rehabilitation by receiving timely technical training. As a result, they are able to contribute to the national economic activities as well as become self-reliant without being a burden and a burden to the society and family. In order to rehabilitate the trainees in the society through employment and self-employment, the following technical training centers have been set up for 06 orphans and disabled children in 07 divisions of the country.
(A) Technical Training Center for Orphans and Disabled Children, Shibganj, Bogra. Number of seats = 100 persons.
(B) Technical Training Center for Orphans and Disabled Children, Asashuni, Satkhira. Number of seats = 100 persons.
(C) Technical Training Center for Orphans and Disabled Children, Sadar, Patuakhali. Number of seats = 100 persons.
(D) Technical Training Center for Orphans and Disabled Children, Sadar, Moulvibazar. Number of seats = 100 persons.
(E) Technical Training Center for Orphans and Disabled Children, Shibchar, Madaripur. Number of seats = 100 persons.
(F) Technical Training Center for Orphans and Disabled Children, Daudkandi, Comilla. Number of seats = 100 persons.
Goals and Objectives:
1. Transformation of 15-25 year old orphans and disabled people into skilled manpower by providing training as per the existing demand.
2. Provide vocational training on priority basis to orphans and children with disabilities who are backward in education.
3. Ensuring social security of trainees.
4. To help the trainees to achieve physical and mental excellence through cultural activities and sports.
5. Provide opportunities for full development of trainee orphans and persons with disabilities in accordance with constitutional commitments, children's law and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
6. Creating employment opportunities and providing interest free loans on easy terms to provide capital for their skill and experience based income generating activities and arranging rehabilitation through grants if necessary: Emphasis on local resources for raising capital.
7. Poverty alleviation by including orphans and disabled children in the mainstream of the society by making them self-reliant by imparting up-to-date vocational training through technical training and making necessary arrangements for employment abroad according to their qualifications.
Target population:
Orphans and disabled persons aged 15-25 years living in various government and non-government institutions under the Department of Social Services and non-resident orphans / destitute orphans and disabled children in the catchment area (15-25 years).

Eligibility for Admission:
1. Every year trainees will be selected from among the underprivileged residents in the education of government child families / institutions of different districts and will be nominated as resident residents in the center.
2. The age limit of the trainee resident should be minimum 15 years and maximum 25 years.
3. Preference will be given to the residents of government child families and institutions with disabilities run by the Ministry of Social Welfare;
4. The minimum educational qualification of the trainee residents should be 8th class pass. Educational qualifications can be relaxed if necessary;
5. Candidates wishing to be admitted have to apply along with the concerned Center Head through the prescribed admission form. The central authorities will broadcast admission notices in widely circulated dailies, various government and non-government organizations, and advertisements on local TV channels at scheduled times.
6. The concerned center will finalize the formalities of trainee admission through the main admission committee;
7. Admitted trainees must abide by the rules and regulations of the Center;
8. If anyone commits any act contrary to the rules and regulations, other disciplinary action including administrative action may be taken against him;
9. A personal document and case history should be kept for each trainee
10. Disabled trainees must have a disabled registration. In case of orphans, the local people's representative (minimum UP chairman) will certify them as orphans / destitute.
Facilities for Residential Trainees:
1. Free hostel accommodation for the duration of the training.
2. Free trainee treatment.
3. Sports and recreation.
5. Opportunity to read books in the library.
6. The duration of the position of the trainees in the institution is 6 months per course (if necessary, with the approval of the Center Management Committee, the duration of the same course can be extended to 6 months).
7. Providing new dress at applicable festivals.

The center was set up within the ERCPH in 1978 with the aim of making the visually impaired self-reliant through vocational training. In this institution with residential facilities, various types of technical training are provided to the visually impaired persons. The number of sanctioned seats is 50, the number of present residents is 45 So far, the number of rehabilitated through this organization is 1185. The following services are provided by this center:
* Accommodation, maintenance, medical care for the visually impaired;
* Training on bamboo and cane work (6 months duration), poultry rearing, and mobility (6 months duration);
* Sports and recreational facilities;
* Arranging employment and rehabilitation;
* Provision of rehabilitation allowance at the rate of BDT. 4,000 at the end of
training;
* Assistance in obtaining employment in various government and non-government
organizations; and Housing and upbringing.

In order to impart various types of technical training to the hearing-impaired and physically challenged youth, the center was set up in 1978 at Tongi in Gazipur district. After successful completion of the training at the institute, a rehabilitation allowance of BDT. 4,000 is provided to each trainee for the purpose of rehabilitation. The number of seats sanctioned in this institution is 85, the number of current residents is 70. So far, the number of rehabilitated is 2,704. The services provided by this center are as follows:
* Accommodation, maintenance, medical care to persons with disabilities;
* Short-term industrial training, such as Mechanical Workshop - 1 year duration (30 seats), Carpentry - 1 year duration (10 seats), Tailoring - 1 year duration (25 seats) , Poultry Training - 6 months duration (number of seats - 10), and nursery training - 6 months duration (number of seats - 10);
* Sports, recreation and rehabilitation;
* Arranging employment and rehabilitation;
* Provision of rehabilitation allowance of BDT. 4,000 at the end of training;

Braille Press:
The Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Disabilities (ERCPH) Tongi, Gazipur has a Braille press for teaching visually impaired students in Braille. Books printed through this press are supplied free of cost to the visually impaired schools run by the Department of Social Services and to various institutions dealing with disability activities. Three Braille printers and accessories were installed in 2014 funded by the a2i (a2i) project under the Honorable Prime Minister's Office. From 1995 to 2021, 4 thousand 421 of first class, 3 thousand 872 of second class, 6 thousand 385 of third class, 5 thousand 845 of fourth class, 5 thousand 753 of fifth class, 713 of junior class, 524 of seventh class, 602 of eighth class, A total of 28 thousand 325 books including 300 books of class 9th, 10th and 11th, besides Bangabandhu's unfinished autobiography 100 sets, Secretariat Guidelines-2014, 20 sets and 2,000 copies of calendars were printed and supplied.

Artificial limbs production center:
(ERCPH) located within Tongi, Gazipur is a artificial limbs Manufacturing Center for the Physically Handicapped. The center manufactures artificial legs (Hitech and Jaipuri), crutches, Braille sticks and hearing aids and ear molds for hearing impaired people along with measuring the hearing power of the hearing impaired. The center provides necessary service and repair facilities for group hearing aid classrooms in speech and hearing impaired schools of the Department of Social Services. artificial limbs manufactured are provided free/reduced cost to persons with disabilities.
